Kenneth H. Botham, Sr.February 5, 1927 ~ May 2, 2016 (age 89)
Kenneth H. Botham, Sr., of Grand Junction, quietly passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. He was 89, and a resident of the Palisades Living Center.
Born 5 February 1927 in Norwich, Connecticut. Ken graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1945, and then briefly served in the U. S. Army during World War 2. Ken married his high school sweetheart, Elsbeth "Ellie" Fay Dowdell on 4 July 1947. Their son, Ken, Jr., was born the following year.
In 1960 Ken and his family moved to Colorado. In Steamboat Springs, Ken took a position with the Colorado State Highway Department and later transferred to Grand Junction. He was an active member of several churches, as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and soloist. Ken and Ellie's daughter Fay came along later.
Ken is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ellie, his son, Ken, Jr. and daughter, Fay, grandson Thad and his three children, Eli, Maeve and Silas. Ken was preceded in death by his grandson Thayer, who with his wife, Jill had two sons, Daniel and Lucas.
A memorial service will take place at the Palisade Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery of the Western Slope in Grand Junction.
